Hyejin Jinney Choi, Executive Director

Jinney Choi has been a musician for the past thirty years, receiving both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Composition and Piano. In her thirty years of experience, she has been a composer as well as an orchestra string conductor. She is currently Jubilate Academy’s Founder and Executive Director, overseeing all aspects of the school and aspiring to reach her goal of providing a well-rounded education to today’s youth.  She is also accredited in educational teaching.


Aimee Gomez, SAT and AP Literature
Aimee Gomez is a writer, editor, and a professor at UCLA.  She holds a Ph.D. in Urban Education and English Literature and has twenty years of experience teaching English and Test Prep.

Judy Canann, Elementary School  & Book Club Instructor
Formerly an elementary school teacher with a Master’s in Reading Education, Judy Canann is a Book Club teacher for our students. A deeply religious Baptist, Judy Canann adds to the school atmosphere of praising Christ, increasing the spirituality and academics of our students.

Heidy Hernandez

Heidy Hernandez currently teaches science in Redondo Beach. She is a graduate from UCLA with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and a  Masters of Arts in Teaching from USC.


Joseph Chung

Joseph Chung is a graduate from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Bioengineering. He has previously been a part of UCSD Cardiac Mechanics Research Group, as well as been a part of the Global Medical Brigade, setting up health clinics in rural villages. Joseph has several years of experience as an AP and SAT teacher, specializing in science subjects. 


Eunice Kim

Eunice Kim is a writer, editor, and teacher with over six years of experience teaching English and Test Prep. She graduated from Amherst College with honors and received a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Writing from Otis College of Art and Design. She has had over eight years of experience in journalism and grant writing, and has spoken at multiple conferences including the Voyages Conference at CSU Northridge; her stories, essays, and translations have been published in various literary magazines. 


Daniel J. Calise

Daniel Calise earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Temple University in January of 2009, with a major in Secondary Education: English. He briefly worked in a Philadelphia high school before spending two years as an Oral English teacher at Guangdong Peizheng College from 2009 to 2011. He then returned to Los Angeles and became a homeschool teacher for two brothers in Beverly Hills. He taught all subjects to one 5th grade boy and one 11th grade boy. Following this, Daniel relocated to Austin, Texas for two years, where he taught 10th grade English at an inner city high school. Finally, Daniel once again returned to Los Angeles where he currently teaches AP English Literature at Executive Preparatory Academy of Finance in Gardena. His hobbies include guitar, piano, traveling, and cats.


Ray Chou

Ray teachers Math at Jubilate Academy, and has had extensive experience in the past as a private Math tutor. We pride ray on being a very effective teacher, who enjoys challenging students and pushing them to success. 


Julia Chamberlin

Julia received a bachelor’s degree in math, and has since been further improving her math confidence and skills to pursue her love of math and teaching. Julia has recently made a decision to attend Graduate school for math, with the goal of teaching at the community college level.
